Austin Soundpainting Workshops are here!

Interested Artists Wanted! 

DANCERS – ACTORS – MUSICIANS – POETS – VISUAL & MEDIA ARTISTS interested in working in the medium of structured improvisation and learning the language of Soundpainting – join us!  Soundpainting is a composing sign language used to conduct multi-disciplinary improvised performance.  Donation based – $10 suggested.  Attend as many as you can – if not all!

Six Sessions: Sundays, May 31st-July 19th (No sessions on June 21 and July 5)

12:30pm-1:00pm  Musicians set-up/Body warm-up/Breakfast tacos and coffee (available for a small donation)

Andrea Ariel, AADT’s Artistic Director and Certified Multi-disciplinary Soundpainter, will lead artists to learn the first level of Soundpainting gestures and explore them in a series of Soundpainting compositions by the end of each workshop session.  Come play!

The workshops aim to bring artists opportunities to perform as part of the Austin Soundpainting Collective. The collective will serve as an incubator for dance, theater, music, poetry, visual and media artists interested in working in structured improvisation and exploring the language of Soundpainting leading to performances, educational residencies and community workshops in Austin and beyond.

With the creative ensemble of The Bowie Project, we have been working with Soundpainting for two years. We are forming the Austin Soundpainting Collective to continue to develop new work, explore and experiment with the language, and invite Austin artists to join us.  Founding members Alyson Dolan, Steve Ochoa, Adam Sultan, Andy Nolte, Rey Arteaga, John Nelson, Claude McCan, Alán De León Uribe will be participating in the workshops.
